EdgardRL
1. The platform
EdgardRL is a language-learning web application operated by Ariel Grahl. The official website is edgardrl.com, hosted on Netlify. Other deployments or forks are not the official platform unless explicitly authorized in writing.
2. Intellectual property & registered brand
The name “EdgardRL”, the EdgardRL logo, mascot artwork, and the platform’s visual identity are the exclusive property of Ariel Grahl. Continuous use of the name establishes common-law trademark rights.
No fork or derivative version of the open-source code has the right to use the name “EdgardRL” or to present itself as the official platform. If someone clones the code and uses the same name to confuse users, the author may request removal on grounds of brand impersonation or misleading identity (including via hosting providers such as Netlify, Vercel, or GitHub).
3. Application code (Apache License 2.0)
The EdgardRL application source code published on GitHub is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. You may view, copy, modify, and distribute the code subject to the Apache 2.0 terms, including retaining the copyright notice. The Apache license applies to the software only — not to the EdgardRL brand, logo, or community course content.
4. Community course content (CC BY-NC-ND)
Unless otherwise stated, course content created and uploaded by users or contributors to EdgardRL is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND).
- Attribution (BY): Credit the author and EdgardRL when sharing.
- NonCommercial (NC): You may not sell courses, charge access fees, run advertising on them, or republish them for commercial gain on another platform.
- NoDerivatives (ND): You may not distribute adapted or remixed versions of course content outside the terms of this license.
Course Content: Protected under Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-ND). Exclusive educational and non-commercial use on the official edgardrl.com platform. This allows learners to study inside the platform while preventing unauthorized commercial exploitation of community work.
5. User contributions
By uploading or submitting course material you confirm that you have the rights to share it and that it does not infringe third-party copyright. You grant EdgardRL a non-exclusive license to host and display the content within the platform under CC BY-NC-ND. By submitting a course, you agree that your content follows these non-commercial rules. Do not upload protected stories, songs, or other works without permission.
6. Disclaimer
EdgardRL is provided “as is” during alpha development. There is no warranty of uninterrupted service or fitness for a particular purpose. Use at your own risk.
